Croatia - Dubrovnik

Tuesday (7-7)

I don't know.  When I think of Croatia, I think of civil war, ethnic cleansing, bombs going off.  Whatever my preconception, I was wrong.  This place was beautiful.  Evidentially, the place was wiped out in the 90's but they have rebuilt and it looks great.

This statue was by the front gate of the old city.  I only included it for it's porn value.  I mean, what do we have?  A naked chick, a naked guy and a sheep.

The front gate of the Old City of Dubrovnik.

This guy was not into his job.  He guarded the gate.  Just stood there in that wimpy uniform.  At least the Swiss Guard and the fools from Athens looked like peacocks.  This guy just looked bored.  And also about 10 minutes older than Jake.

This is the public water fountain.  There we a couple of locals looking at us and they were thinking "These guys are going to drink out of our urine fountain.  Do you think they will give us a tip, also?

The cool tour was to pay to walk up on top of the city walls.  You could see the outside of the walls, on top of seeing the inside of the old city.  I don't know.  I spent the last 2 weeks seeing hills, Wharfs and old stuff.  I don't need to be elevated.  I can see that stuff from street level.

Where was the last time Patrick went into a confessional.

When they rebuilt the city, they forgot to make the streets wider.

Old Church.  What a surprise.

This is the changing of the guards in Croatia.  This was definitely a tourist thing.

We wanted to have a drink.  The sign's lead us to this little hole through the city walls.  This is where is took us.

A couple of seats on the side of the cliff.

I still don't know how they found the room to fit that cooler thru that little tiny hole.

The vantage point of this pic is down this little cliff.  This is looking up to the cafe.

Mid look

Looking down to the Adriatic Sea. The kids felt the water.  For there Florida tails, it was cold.

I guess cats are more adorable in Croatia.  They kept on petting these nasty things and I was trying to tell them to save it for the poor cat that we left at home.  Come to think of it, did we leave enough food for 3 weeks.  At least I left the lid of the toilet up.

Kathy as we were negotiating the route back to the entrance gates.

Some barrier Islands.
