In the afternoon, we went to Vatican City. This was another place that was chuck full of history. We toured Saint Peters Basilica. We didn't have the time to go thru the Sistine Chapel. I guess you can't see everything.
Our first view of the Basilica. This was technically our forth county we visited at this point (after Spain, France and Italy).
The main purpose of this square, it seems, is to make a place for people to stand in line. Luckily, the tour we were on went right to the front of the lines. It sucks to be them.
Can you believe it, another fountain in Italy... I mean the Vatican....Whatever.
The detail on the ceiling was unbelievable.
This is actually a fresco. All the pictures in the Basilica are fresco's. The pictures are all in St Peters. You may ask what is the difference. About $3,000 each. Seriously, fresco's are made up on tiles. This is actually a mosaic, not paint.
The Swiss Guard. They seem like peacocks to me.
